The story behind Themidkids Co.
Hi, welcome to Themidkids Jewelry Co. Our names are Annemiek and Sem, but you can call us themidkids. Themidkids comes from the realization that the middle child is usually overlooked, a conversation we had a couple of years ago. We decided to turn this into Themidkids Jewelry Co, a small business focussing on creating art that is an extended version of ourselves. Representing strength, confidence, and unique personalities.
Jewelry has always been an important aspect of our lives, even while figuring out who we were at a young age. Being 7 years old, and creating jewelry at the park whilst enjoying the sun… One of Annemiek’s favorite memories. This journey of life has always revolved around art, creating physical things from ideas in our little brains. We want to share our massive love for creating art with the world.
Let’s not forget our immense love for the ocean, the beach, and marine life. It’s a sense of peace we can’t explain, but would love to share with everyone. From picking up trash at the beach, to collecting sea glass and shark teeth from all around the world, we do it all with love. This resulted in us thinking: ‘How can we re-use this, and remake it into art?’. Our first shell jewelry and sea glass pieces came to life from here. We hope to bring awareness to marine life and ocean conservation. The earth gives us beautiful things that we love to incorporate into unique jewelry pieces for everyday wear. Being able to wear the earth's pieces every single day is an incredible way to remind ourselves to appreciate and love the ocean and the earth.
All of our jewelry is designed and created by us, in our small studio apartment in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Our collection is made from all kinds of materials, including premium stainless steel. Meaning that we can create jewelry with the most durable metal, making life long-lasting jewelry pieces. We have been able to create a growing, sustainable, jewelry business.
