The story behind Themidkids Co.
Hi, welcome to Themidkids Jewelry Co. Our names are Annemiek and Sem, but you can call us themidkids. Themidkids comes from the realization that the middle child is usually overlooked, a conversation we had a couple of years ago. We decided to flip that idea into something meaningful, creating a brand that celebrates individuality, strength, and confidence through jewelry that reflects who we are.
Jewelry has always been an important aspect of our lives, even while figuring out who we were at a young age. One of Annemiek’s favorite childhood memories is crafting pieces at the park under the warm sun. Art has always been part of our lives—taking ideas from our imaginations and turning them into something tangible. That passion is what we now share with you.
Another big part of who we are? Our love for the ocean. There’s a peaceful magic about the beach and marine life that’s hard to put into words. It’s why we spend so much time picking up beach litter, collecting sea glass, and even finding shark teeth from places all over the world. This resulted in us thinking: ‘How can we re-use this, and remake it into art?’. Our first shell jewelry and sea glass pieces came to life from here. Through our designs, we hope to raise awareness about ocean conservation and inspire others to care for our beautiful planet. The earth gives us beautiful things that we love to incorporate into unique jewelry pieces for everyday wear. Being able to wear the earth's pieces every single day is an incredible way to remind ourselves to appreciate and love the ocean and the earth.
All of our jewelry is created by us in our small apartment in Utrecht, the Netherlands. We work with high-quality materials, including premium stainless steel, to create durable, long-lasting jewelry that you can wear every day. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to have grown a business that reflects those values. We couldn’t have done this without your incredible support.
