Humans kill over 72 million sharks a year by cutting their fins for a bowl of soup. Shark finning is the cruel practice of cutting the fins of a shark when the shark is still alive. We will not be adding photos, but you can imagine what that looks like. Almost all finned sharks are thrown back into the ocean, where they will sink due to the mutation and then die of suffocation. Not many people know this, but sharks play a vital role in maintaining marine ecosystems. The decrease of around 60-70% of shark populations will have a huge impact on all marine life. All this for a bowl of shark fin soup…
